Experience and Qualifications

After qualifying as a chartered accountant and obtaining post qualification experience at Coopers & Lybrand, Doug joined the North East London Polytechnic (now the University of East London) to teach taxation, whilst at the same time beginning a career in the private educational sector at Emile Woolf Colleges.  He left NELP on a full time basis in 1986 to expand his links with the private educational sector at EW FACT plc whilst assisting Roger in setting up the firm.  Doug was a director of EW Fact plc during the time that it expanded onto the Unlisted Securities Market and after it obtained a full listing on the London Stock Exchange.  On its successful acquisition in 1998, he returned to assist in the practice and to lecture to both student and qualified accountants.  Doug has maintained his connections with the University sector of education as an external examiner and as a visiting professor at London South Bank University.  He has been a Trustee of several Charities.  

Doug holds master’s degrees in Business and Tax law and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Chartered Tax Adviser. Doug retired as a Director of Barcant Beardon on 31 December 2018.
